Songs of Freedom

Collaboration for Songs of Freedom

Currently Sunrise is working closely with Anti-Slavery International in development of Songs of Freedom, a documentary series retracing the steps of the triangular slave trade with the goal of changing the way in which culture, society and history have taught us to view ourselves in relation to one another. All parties are committed to impacting the lives of the estimated 2.5million people enslaved today. Partnering with Sunrise on Songs of Freedom, Amistad America Inc. is a national, non-profit educational organization. They promote improved relationships between races and cultures by acknowledging our common experiences and encouraging dialogue that is based on respect.

The Lazarus Effect

Sunrise has recently completed line producing The Lazarus Effect, for Bono and Bobby Shriver's (RED) campaign. The documentary, directed by Lance Bangs and produced by Spike Jonze, premiered on HBO, YouTube and Channel 4 (UK) in 2010. The Lazarus Effect follows the story of HIV positive people in Zambia who, in as few as 40 days, undergo a remarkable transformation thanks to access to treatment that costs around 40 cents a day.

Stop Frame Animation Feature Film

The Legend of the Sky Kingdom is the story of an epic journey...made completely out of junk! Sunrise built all the sets and the main characters out of found objects. Even the cameras used to film the movie were, in part, homemade. The two years of labor it took to make this film demonstrate Sunrise's indefatigability and passion to tell uplifiting stories. This film is available on DVD.
